Lesser Celendine

Lesser Celendine

Suddenly, in the early spring, the woods are graced with a carpet of tiny yellow flowers. They are so pretty, but - they are 'invasive' we are told by the native plant police. Like Robbie the Robot, we are encouraged to ex ter min ate.

I have been collecting the leaves and flowers and steaming them like spinach. Not all the experts would endorse this - for one thing there appears to be toxin in the plant, but it is neutralized by heat.
