Left Behind

Left BehindI often walk the bike path, hoping to avoid getting run over.   The bikes whiz by like meteors with helmets.  The greenery on either side must be a blur at that speed. What are these people thinking about as they fly through the landscape?

I keep to the edge, with the wild violets, garlic mustard and plantain, glossy from the rain.  There is so much to see here.  So many surprises. A patch of nopal cactus? Where did that come from?

It's nice being left behind.
