Left Behind

Left Behind

I often walk the bike path, hoping to avoid getting run over.   The bikes  whiz by like little meteors with helmets. I keep to the edge, where the greenery meets the asphalt.

There is so much to see here.  Wild violets, garlic mustard and broad leaf plantain,  glossy green from the  rain.  It's like a produce aisle, but free.

The bikes keep whizzing by. At that speed, the greenery must be a blur. What are these people thinking about as they fly through the landscape?

The runners are in a hurry, too.  They don't seem to notice this amazing place they are running through. So many little surprises. A patch of nopal cactus plants? Where did these come from?

It's nice being left behind.
